Adjusting to Fitness’ New Normal

COVID-19 has shaken up our idea of “normal life” and changed the way we live our lives. At this point, we’ve gotten used to working out in our homes, using common household items to feel the burn, and have become pros at practicing the art of social distancing. As the curve starts to flatten, gyms and fitness centers will open back up. However, COVID-19 will change the way that gyms operate in the near future. Here’s what you need to know to stay healthy and safe at TruFit clubs once they reopen.

Workout Distancing

Keeping distance between yourself and others is our best defense against COVID-19. Social distancing guidelines will be in full-effect when gyms reopen, and it’s important to pay close attention to posted guidelines. Social distancing calls for everyone to maintain at least a 6-foot distance from each other at all times, and it will be no different at our clubs. We want our members to stay healthy and safe, so, we’ll be posting reminders around our machines to remind everyone to maintain a healthy distance from each other. When you can, try and pick a machine or activity that gives you the most space between you and other members.

Group Fitness Restrictions

To further enforce social distancing, gyms everywhere will be required to limit the number of members in their clubs and in each of their classes at any given time. At TruFit, we’ll be doing our part to make social distancing easy within our clubs. Group fitnesses classes will be small enough so that everyone can maintain at least a 6-foot distance from one another. The goal is to be together but separate to keep gym-goers healthy.

Taking the Right Precautions

Right now, it’s important to be extra careful when it comes to germs and we’ll be doing just that. We’ve implemented touchless check-in at all of our clubs to minimize any unnecessary contact. Our staff will be wearing protective masks and be required to check their body temperatures each morning before they come into the club. We’ve also installed hand sanitizer stations at the front desk of each of our clubs as well to combat the spread.

TruFit’s staff will be receiving additional training for cleaning their workspaces and disinfecting any equipment they are given immediately upon receipt. We’ve also brought on more staff to clean equipment, bathrooms, and all common areas throughout our clubs frequently throughout the day.

What You Can Do

Complying with posted signs and adhering to our precautionary guidelines is the best thing you can do to slow the spread of disease and to keep yourself safe. We want to ensure the health of our members, and to do that we’ll be requiring our gym-goers to wear a protective mask and take a temperature check at our front desk before working out. We also encourage everyone to take advantage of hand sanitizer stations through the gym and wash your hands thoroughly after using any equipment; as well as wipe down any equipment that has been used.

Remember, COVID-19 is spread through close contact with others, so try to do your part to adhere to social distancing guidelines and take caution. If you feel under the weather, stay home and isolate to avoid putting others at risk.

See You Soon
Times are weird right now, but together we’ll make it through and get a great workout in while doing it. We are working towards opening our clubs soon, we are aiming for sometime during May, but be sure to check with your local TruFit or watch our social media announcements before heading in. We deeply care about the health of our staff, members, and family. Do your part to slow the spread, and adhere to all guidelines at your local club, remember it’s for your own health and safety! We’ve missed seeing your smiling faces and are excited to sweat together again, safely.
